Archivio di Stato di Forli, Mattinale della Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana del 2/9/944: Al capo provincia di Forli': Viene segnalato che stamane e stato abbattuto nei pressi di Forlimpopoli un aereo nemico caccia-bombardiere. Dei due componenti l'equipaggio uno e' deceduto subito e l'altro ricoverato all'Ospedale della Fratta per le ferite riportate.
Presumibilmente colpito da flak il Baltimore cadde in una zona attualmente urbanizzata adiacente alla Via Corallo. L'unico superstite fu il pilota Sgt. David, mentre resta incerto ciò che accadde al resto dell'equipaggio. Il violento rogo dell'aereo probabilmente impedi' alle autorita il riconoscimento degli aviatori, al punto che ne venne ritrovato solamente uno, il Sgt. Hudson, come si evince dai rapporti ufficiali. In ogni caso i tre deceduti Cameron, Hudson e Walker sono ricordati al Malta Memorial.
La perdita del Baltimore del Sgt. David viene riportata, con qualche inesattezza, anche nel libro ">From Hitler's U-Boats to Khrushchev's spyflights" di Chris Clark: "On 1 and 2 September, eleven Baltimores of 55 Squadron flew a sortie in the Adriatic Sector, attacking small barges along the coast. They were met with searchlights and heavy and light flak. Sadly, during the early hours of 2 September 1944, the same day as the Allies had broken through the "Gothic Line" at the southernmost part, Baltimore FW 482 "U" was hit and the crew consisting of Sergeant H.F.L. David, (Pilot), Second Lieutenant D.M. Cameron, (Navigator), Sergeant 1801228, James Walter Thomas Hudson, (Wireless Operator), and Sergeant W.B. Walker, (Air Gunner), died in a sortie over Malta. Hudson was a 21 year old from Putney, London, and the crew's memory is commemorated at the Commonwealth Air Forces Memorial on the island. "
