3 marzo 1945 - Boston IV nr. BZ563 - Comacchio (FE)

Operation Records Book (RAF Form 541): 114 Squadron Falconara 2/3 March 1945. Boston IV BZ563 W/O Toynton, RD - P/O S. Birch - F/S Seddon, GM - W/O Hunter, TF - UP 23.05 MISSING. Again eight aircraft were briefed for RADAR controlled Targets at M486886 and M482887. The weather was not good and only the first four aircraft took off, the remainder being cancelled after receipt weather reports. Bombing was done trough 10/10 cloud so no results were observed. No opposition was reported. Boston IV BZ 563 (Pilot W/O Toynton) failed to return.

Non sono noti i motivi della perdita del Boston, resta probabile l'ipotesi del maltempo come causa principale, vista la mancanza di reazione contraerea come riportato nel Diario Operativo. L'aereo cadde tra Comacchio e San Giuseppe e tre aviatori persero la vita: il pilota Toynton, il navigatore Birch ed il mitragliere Hunter. Unico salvo il marconista Seddon, che terminò la guerra in campo di prigionia in Germania. I tre caduti riposano all'Argenta Gap war Cemetery.
