L'aereo in fiamme si inabissò al largo di Venezia con la perdita dell'intero equipaggio come riportato nel Summary ORB (RAF Form 540) del 18° Sqn.: "An aircraft was reported on fire and ditching East of Venice and it is presumed that is was hit by flak while making a low level attack on the bridge of Latisana."
I corpi degli aviatori non furono mai trovati, la loro scomparsa è ricordata nel Malta Memorial.
